LAST NIGHT AT TACTICAL EDGE EDINBURGH

Last night the guys looked at punyo sumbrada. Firstly, we worked it with the knife then stick and finally empty hand. We took various applications from the drill and worked them combatively.

LAST NIGHT AT TACTICAL EDGE EDINBURGH

We covered some of the pistol disarms last night and then worked multiple opponent drills and quick kills. We then looked at a situation where we disarmed the threat and then they grab and smother the weapon. Rather than look at weapon retention we went to our back up edged weapon. We looked at methods for using the weapon should it turn out to be a bb gun or blank firer. We then looked at power passing and pressuring the attacking limb.

LAST NIGHT AT TACTICAL EDGE EDINBURGH

We started the class on the pads drilling some of the striking curriculum then we looked at our elbow destructions against stright attacks, then moving onto guntings. After this we added it altogether and destroyed the incoming attack and then used the strikes we drilled earlier for our counter attack. We then looked at sumbrada and tried to effect disarms throughout the drill. We looked at the various ranges and then moved onto some play fighting. I posted a video of Bob Breen on the KME facebook page. This is pretty much what we were doing. Just playing, having fun. After that it was straight into defending circular attacks with the straight blast limb destruction and finally some knife defence. Fast pace class and we trained a little later. Great effort from everyone there.

TACTICAL EDGE GRADING

There is a Tactical Edge grading looming so tonight we will be working through the syllabus.

MONDAY AT TACTICAL EDGE EDINBURGH

On Monday after a challenging bodyweight warm up we trained outside concentrating on hubud, elbow hubud and longer range hubud with cut parrys. We practised blending them together. It was a good class and everyone came on really well. I explained that when fighting at close range you are sensing the opponenets energy more than seeing with your eyes as strikes are too fast. It's not just arms you sense but the forward pressure from his body, so you can break away when you feel that if necessary. These drills are ideal for developing this skill. I will try and post up a clip in the next week of what we did.

WOMEN-ONLY KICKBOXING EDINBURGH

Tonight we trained outside. Worked through various combinations of punches, elbows, kicks and knee strikes. Everyone worked really hard and we finished off with some conditioning drills on the pads.

TACTICAL EDGE TRAINING

Tonight the guys went out for a run and then Derek took them through a military warm up. We then went on to work sumbrada and in particular look at the attributes that we can draw from the drill. I told the guys to do more solo practice at home and to buy the light weight sticks from the gym so they can move faster and more fluent. After class I shared some material on how to train at home learning to move another person around without them really realising what you are doing. If you just give 10 minutes a day to some solo practice, even mental visualisation, then by the end of the week it is like you have attended a further class.

TACTICAL EDGE EDINBURGH

Tonight we looked at the snap cut and worked various drills to enhance this. I explained to the guys that if we picked up a common object that was heavy and used it to strike you could easily kill someone. However, take that item and use the snap cut motion and it's all over quickly but without the body at your feet. Remember, if you get in an altercation you have to do what it takes to survive but you cannot be excessive or cruel. You also have to remember the force ladder and repercussions not only with the legal system but friends of the attacker. It's all to easy to talk about causing someone great harm but the more you train the more you understand how easy it for you to cause harm to someone due to your training. You want to avoid confrontations at all costs because you realise that if it does escalate to violence then you could really do some damage. Always think and get rid of the egos.

KRAV MAGA EDINBURGH

Last night we trained outside. Went for a run then onto the ramp for some bodyweight exercises. We started off with striking and then looked at tactics. We dealt with defences against low kicks and knife attacks when we were taken by surprise. We worked some good progressions which we will cover again in future classes.

TACTICAL EDGE

We started the class off on combative drills on the pads. From there we concentrated on reverse grip knife and looked at drills using half circle motions. We buil this up into combatives and then worked empty hand applications and the u-strip.
