Tonight we started with some fun drills getting the guys used to some contact. From there we went straight into knife defence. Rather than adopt the standard KM approach of a strong blocking action we looked at how we could use all the principle blocks, link them together to disperse the energy. Its in a lot of other arts and we found it in KM. You cannot always just put up a barrier. For starters someone is always bigger and more powerful. You might be fatigued, injured, bleeding and you cannot simply match strength. Its these ideas and working through them which will enhance your skills. More body movement, take flank. I will try and do a instructional clip this week about it. Marcus
