MOBILITY

It's no secret that I am not the biggest fan of static stretching. I was just having a sports massage there and getting told off about it again. However, I do love mobility training. Its fast easy and doesn't take much time. Think about the range of movement you have in a particular joint. If you don't use it that often and through its current full range of motion, over time it will decrease. So you need to keep it moving in circular motions to release fluid (the oil in the joint) and keep it mobile. If you have problems in a particular area then mobility may be the key.

Ive suffered from back pain for years and had two operations. A lot down there has frozen up so mobility is a must. Its fun trying to fix yourself working out what is wrong and finding out what works for you. For a long time I thought it was just my back when in fact I had problems in my hips. So work on them and then it manifests somewhere else. It's a struggle to stay young and agile and as we get older its more important to keep mobile. Take a few minutes each day to swing your arms, rotate your wrists, elbows. These are the easy ones. Then move onto to all the other areas. There is such a wealth of information on the web about it and a lot of follow along instruction. There really is no excuse. Spending a little time doing this can decrease your chance of injury and also make you more responsive in training.

Your car gets a regular MoT and health check so maybe its time you did the same for you body.
