THIS WEEK AT KRAV MAGA EDINBURGH

This week we jumped all over the system covering everything from close quarter combatives to ground fighting. The main thing to remember is tool and target development and to see the links in our training. Is close quarter stand up not the same as ground fighting? The dynamics are different and we don't have to contend with gravity but its all about linking. If people in martial arts and self defence could see the similarities in what they do rather than the differences. I think this happens over time the more work you put in. If you teach full time then you are constantly working working the material and refining. If you are an instructor who teaches as a second job like most of the KM ones in the UK then its going to take longer for you to see this. If you devote 3 hours a week to teaching then it's going to be a long road for you. I think this is one of the main causes for a lot of the KM guys being disrespectful towards traditional arts saying they wouldn't work. I think they forget where all the material from KM derived from. I love when the KM guys all mock a downward karate block. Well is this not a downward hammer strike destroying an incoming kick. Look around and see all the similarities, draw from them and make yourself a great practitioner. Don't listen to anyone, you work it out for yourself and decide what works.
