Think Fast!
Tuesday nights have become one of the high lights of my week. The regular Combat Ready Sport crew have upped their game significantly over the last few months. Like anyone who teaches, there is always a concern that you will lose peoples attention. You could be teaching piano, Spanish or stick fighting. If folk get bored, it's over. But nothing, nothing feels as good as getting the fundamentals right. Everyone is snapping their 4 count drills out sharp and fast. Elbows are tight, hands are high, people are stepping on the punch and keeping structure as they move. Now with these basics in place the sparring is starting to come together.
We worked close in with uppercuts and hooks this week. Great for the little guys to close down a bigger opponent. We have such a mix of weights, shapes and sizes in the class, not to mention ability. So it's a credit to everyone there that the egos have left the building and participants are really working to help improve each others game.
I worked in with Michael and Bart during light sparring this week. Michael teaches me to watch for those low kicks going high. Bart teaches me to move my head more and faster. Sparring is a win win. If you can get your head round that then you will improve in leaps and bounds. We are going slow, growing fast!
Great class, great group. Looking forward to next week!
