Thursday at Krav Maga Edinburgh

Women's class kicked off with the usual warm up which flowed nicely into the kettlebells and bodyweight drills. We focused on the swing, snatch and a whole host of other techniques to get the old heart pumping. We switched over to the pads where we focused on our combatives. Starting off with a jab cross we then took this further culminating into a take down.

Tactical Edge
Blast from the past in terms of warm up. I really made you guys work and at one point I think someone needed to rush off to the toilet to be sick! It was intense but all of you did well. Lets hope there are not too many sore limbs over the next few days!
The class covered some pad drills with multiple strikes. It then switched over to some knife drills and then to finish off, "back to basics" with limb destruction's.

Remember, Saturdays Tactical Edge Seminar up at the Energy gym! It starts at 12pm and finishes at 4pm. Cost is £25 and as always you will not be disappointed. We'll be looking at the combative use of the baton, stick or improvised baton. Less emphasis on attribute building this time, more on combatives. As well as skill-at-arms we'll spend a bit of time on unarmed defence against baton attacks.

Krav Maga Class

Another steady warm up for the new guys. We focus heavily on fitness and conditioning at this club. Probably more than any other. We don't just do this for fun (although we hope you do have fun). Most of the warm ups are designed to mi mick a fight. Explosive and lots of power!
We drilled the pads using some of the combatives we have previously went over. Palm heel strikes and hammer fists. Tonight we focused on chokes from the front and side and why we allowed ourselves to be in that position. Towards the end we played a few games with these techniques. We practiced with the lights on and then in the dark. to add another dimension to our training. It was great to see so many new guys come along. Welcome to the club!

  1. A really good workout. What I have enjoyed the most was going back to basics. As always, the simplier it is, the better it gets. Protecting against chokes was undoubtedly an enjoyable stress control drill, although I have seen some guys (not just the new folk!) peeping as we were walking around to strike.

Good session. As always, big thanks to Lee!
