Verbal distraction

One of the key parts of self defence training is the verbal portion.  Trying to de-escalate a situation and also learning not to freeze and also when you attack if need be.  Everyone has their opinion on when to strike pre-emptively compared to the point they are in conversation.  Some would say ask them a question, or wait until they speak, so that their brain is engaged as you launch your attack.  Your training for this week will be to talk as you launch into your pad work, and try and keep the conversation going as you strike the pads.  Use the aggression in your voice to mimic the breathing you would with normal pad work.  Remember, the combo will be short - as an example on jab, cross, hook, cross you could be saying - "look i don't know why you are picking on me!".  Try it, have some fun and find out what works best for you.
