LIMB DESTRUCTION SEMINAR

A big thank you to Mark Davies for coming to Edinburgh to hold this seminar. Mark explained the purpose of the limb destruction and why it is our principal entry in Tactical Edge. We started working off the basic matrix concentrating on the footwork and working forehand high and low-line attacks. We then looked at the backhand attack which usually means that there is a weapon involved. We trained this angle with the attacker armed with a bottle and used the U-strip to remove the bottle. Mark went into great detail concerning the law surrounding self defence. He pointed out that once you have removed the weapon from the attacker you cannot simply start using that weapon to harm the attacker. That's fine in Internet forums and Hollywood but realistically in this country it will get you a jail sentence. We looked at different destructions for dealing with straight attacks and also close range attacks where we used our elbows to destroy the limbs. We added in the usual passing actions, takedowns, foot pins and sectors to make the training complete. We looked at attackers who were not simply throwing one punch and how out destructions could deal with these. We looked to the low line and worked destructions against kicking attacks. We looked at how we could slot in our returning blade curriculum and also some locking and breaking which was a taster for a future seminar. To finish off Mark had the guys using the walls to project an opponent into. So we were using the environment to our advantage. Remember in real life the world is littered with walls, cars, tables and chairs. The material was excellent and well presented as usual. It all builds on what we regularly train and allows you to go away and work on the material and build it up for yourself. Mark aims to give you ideas and concepts that you can take away and slot into your specific art. I hope to have some pictures up from the day very soon. Once again a big thank you to Mark for coming along and providing us with a fun packed afternoon.
