A big thank you to Mark for coming down and doing this seminar for the guys. We started off with the dummy guns looking a pistol threats from various positions. All the defences took into account the fact that we had to minimise the chance of the gun discharging and deafening and blinding us as well as perhaps shooting someone else at the side of us. Mark explained the workings of the various hand guns that were there and common features of the most likely models found in the hands of criminals. We then started working with the gas blow back pistols and set up a range. We worked in pairs and each person had a hand gun and two magazines. We were working from the situation that we would be engaging a target that would be moving a and / or firing back at us. At no point were we ever standing still and using the sites of the pistol. Most gun battles occur at close range so it seemed sensible to adopt this approach. As the day progressed we put the safety masks on and worked on disarming an attacker, neutralising that threat and moving on to another one. Mark taught us many little tricks of the trade which made for a thoroughly enjoyable and fun days training. We hope to run one of these events again later in year so keep an eye out as we can only run with 12 people maximum to ensure safety.
