Circuits was a tough one. Started off with a quick warm up, mobility and stretching and then into bodyweight stations. Then we changed the stations slightly and added in the kettlebells. After this we did 10 minutes of solid kettlebell work mainly focusing on the swing, clean, high pull and squat. We finished off the session with some padwork and then into a cool down. Excellent effort.
Krav Maga kicked off with skipping into bodyweight drills including the feared hand stand push-ups. With a partner these become much more fun and manageable. We looked at some combatives and then built these into a set where we looked to establish a chest to back position and then stamped on the back of the leg. We also introduced some of the low line kicking from Tactical Edge to make it more effective. From there we looked at a defensive position to take on the ground when we are being attacked from multiple angles, mainly from kicks. From there, we have to make a decision to either stay there or get up. I said that if we heard police sirens for example it may be safer to stay there. Then again it could be an ambulance you hear so you have to make the right decision at the time. If we don't stay on the ground then we have to get up under fire so we have to keep our head covered and expect to take a few shots. The longer we stay on the ground the more likely we are going to end up unconscious. We looked at another drill working off a sucker punch and then closing the distance and establishing a chest to back position. We then made this a partner drill so when we established the chest to back position the attacker would execute a throw. I threw a lot at the guys last night so lets hope some of it sticks to quote Mr Davies.

that was a blast. krav maga was a good, modern, practical form of self-defense that was carefully conceived for our volatile world today..
