MONDAY NGHT @ TACTICAL EDGE EDINBURGH

Last night we worked in pairs and developed our coaching during the warm up. We took the basic Combat Ready push-up and looked for the main faults a student may develop when doing it at the outset or when fatigue sets in. We looked at variations and how to build explosive power from this. We then did the same with the kettlebell swing and the high pull. Then it was on to striking the pads and combative sets. The developmental sets we worked last night focused on pre-emptive striking. We then worked with the single stick and looked at our angles of attack and then building up a defensive matrix against the most common angles. We then demonstrated how we could use this matrix with emptyhand, small impact tool, edged weapon. That way with minor modifications we have a solid defence, and under stress we don't need to think too much changing about changing our patterns of movement. I like it simple.
