LAST NIGHTS CLASSES

The beginner's class kicked off with some tool development then working on straight and round attacks to keep everyone together. We then went on to our theme of using common objects in self defence. The Combat Sport class with Rannoch Donald started with a combination of skipping and push ups followed by kettlebell swings and corkscrew press. A brief but effective warm up. Next they focused on Jab - Cross - Hook whilst advancing and then worked the drill on pads. This was followed by a series of combinations with focus on feeding pads effectively. These drills are simple and basic but it was clear by that attention to detail on the fundamentals pays off. By the end you could hear the satisfying rhythmic thwack of glove on pad. We finished of with some light sparring with a focus on speed, again working the Jab - Cross - Hook combinations. The intermediate class took a Tactical Edge twist and worked on hubud and using this form our flinch reaction. We looked at some low line traps and if these failed straight back into our Thai kicking and takedowns. We finished off with defending against kicks. Great effort by all last night.
