Thursday at Krav Maga Edinburgh

The women's class kicked off with some circuits which tested all. The fitness levels of all the students has improved greatly along with their form using the Kettlebells. Keep it up guys!

Both Krav Maga classes we warmed up and then kicked off the class with some pad drills. Tonight's focus was getting up close and finding that "fighting spirit". We went through all the bear hugs at all angles. The class started off slow so I decided to introduce a game to liven everyone up. In groups of 3 we had a pad holder, an attacker and the third guy stood behind the attacker holding a rope that was around the attackers waist. Object of the game was for the attacker to punch out on the pads whilst the rope holder tried to prevent this. Lots of shouting and encouragement came from everyone which really got the attacker pumped. We then went into the bear hug game. 1 rule, don't get hugged. It looked like to me though a few of the guys really enjoyed hugging "the Bear" as he seemed to spend most of the drill in close contact with the guys.

To finish off we went into slow fighting. The idea behind this is to really focus on technique and make the movements as big as possible. I worked on the basis that no two defences should be the same. We need to explore what we have in our repertoire.

Remember classes are still on next week so hopefully see you all there.
