At the Combat Ready Gym we specialise in Krav Maga and CrossFit training. Krav Maga is an Israeli self-defense and hand to hand combat system. The system is used globally by civilians like you, the military and law enforcement. CrossFit is the global strength and conditioning phenomenon developed in the US. TUESDAY NIGHT AT KRAV MAGA EDINBURGH
We opened up the class with a circuit and then moved onto some pad work combinations concentrating on subtle strikes which are effective without looking overly aggressive. From there we developed our low line kicks and looked at defending front kicks.

LAST NIGHT AT KRAV MAGA EDINBURGH
Last night we started the class with some plyometrics and then worked our combatives on the pads. We looked at straight and circular attacks, not concerning ourselves with the actual attack, more so the angle. We then worked a multiple attacker drill testing every student to the limit. Great effort guys!

LAST NIGHT AT KICKBOXING EDINBURGH
Last night after the warm up we concentrated on conditioning on the thai pads for rounds. After that, we moved onto the focus mitts and worked on speed drills. We finished the class with the pad holder calling out the combinations. This week we are going to focus on the fundamentals and get them rocking. I was really impressed with some of the striking last night, it was really crisp with a fantastic rhythm - music to my ears!

LAST NIGHT AT TACTICAL EDGE EDINBURGH
We started working on 3 and 6 count sumbrada. From there we looked at 3 count in long range and then in medium range using the live hand. We then put an edged weapon in the live hand to cut instead of check with. From there we did sumbrada with the knife and then looked at combative application from it. We looked at versions where we used the punyo strike and then looked to take the vision. We looked at what to do if they checked your strike when trying to take their vision. Good class.

LAST NIGHT AT KRAV MAGA EDINBURGH
Last night we looked at the value of verbal de-escalation and how to avoid a confrontation at all costs. We looked at trying to draw our opponent in to a circular punch by shutting down our centre line. We looked at defences against grabs and headbutts and also looked at tells. These are the give aways that should set alarm bells ringing that you are about to be attacked. I said that when we train on Thursday we will use the counter as a bar and look at being able to prevent people picking up objects to use as weapons and also how we can reply common objects in our favour all within the confines of the law.

TACTICAL EDGE EDINBURGH
Last night after a quick warm up we went straight into double stick drills and looked at the some of the Heaven series. From there we moved onto empty hand applications. Buy a set of sticks from the gym for £12 and get training at home or you will spend the next ten years trying to improve it in class. We have such a wide curriculum to cover, so if you want it to stick and be effective then you need to do some study at home. Get on it.
