Male 11st 7lbs - Scottish Championship

Male 12st 7lbs - British Championship

Male 13st 7lbs - British Championship

Male Open - Scottish Championship

The days wrestling kicked off with young Max taking part in the under 21s competition. Max put up a good fight and for having only trained in backhold for a few months did a stellar job.

Next up was myself in the 11st 7lb Scottish Championship. A few hard fought matches and my days wrestling was over.

The true star of the day was Combat Readys own Andrew Thompson. Again with only a few months at most training in backhold wrestling behind him yet he managed to place an amazing 3rd place in the open/heavyweight Scottish Championship. This is an awesome accomplishment for Andy as he was up against some of the best wrestlers in the country as 2 teams had travelled up from England to take part also.

Andy had a total of 6 matches, and not an easy match up in site. 3 qualifying matches and he was in the quarterfinals which of course he won, a lot of work and energy put in up to this point and his next match against Frazer Hirsch (who would eventually go on to take the title!)

Was never going to be easy. Thinking the days wrestling over Andy grabbed a seat only to be told he wasn’t finished as he had to wrestle for 3rd or 4th place! So he showed great spirit and went straight back to it and won the match to grab the 3rd place!

I can’t express how proud I was and am of Andy, he showed great strength and spirit to get such a great result and it’s also a testament to his dedication to training and his willingness to learn! So well done guys, was a great day.

Videos Andy matches to follow soon!

Scott Mellia

I'd like to congratulate all the guys for taking part and for Scott who is being modest and took a 5th place in the British. Scott has done extremely well to take part and make time for coaching all the guys. It would be gerat to get more of the guys involved. If you are interested then please speak to Scott.

Marcus
